Ingrid Bergman is known for any number of well respected films. The same can easily be said for Humphrey Bogart, whose filmography is extensive and whose acting skills still stand almost unparalleled in the film industry.

So when the two were cast together in a single film, the result was inevitably going to be a hit. The 1942 American romance Casablanca remains one of the world’s most well known love stories, and features both Humphrey Bogart Ingrid Bergman as the main characters in love.

Set in the Moroccan city Casablanca, the movie’s storyline centers around Bogart’s café, which sits in the battle liens between allied spies and Vichy and Nazi officials. Bogart and Bergman must wrestle with an earlier love they shared, despite Bergman’s being married.

Inevitably the pair must part, their relationship ending with the famous line “Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow. But soon, and for the rest of your life.”
