Ingrid Bergman Children

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

Ingrid Bergman had three spouses. That’s a fair number of one lifetime. So it stands to reason that, of those three spouses, she would manage to have at least a couple kids.

And a couple she had indeed. Her first child, born in 1938, was Pia Lindstrom. Lindstrom was greatly affected by Bergman’s scandalous affair with Roberto Rossellini, as Bergman was forced to leave her child and flee the country, prompting Lindstrom’s father Aron Petter Lindstrom to fight for custody of her. Lindstorm today is an award-winning reporter with some acting credits under her belt.

But most of her children come from the same director who’d forced her to fled. Their first child together was Roberto Rossellini, born in 1950. But they didn’t stop there: two years after the pair got married, Bergman gave birth to twins.

The first was Ingrid Rossellini. Ingrid was apparently more of a scholar than actor, and she went to school to get her Ph.D in Italian Literature. She teaches the subject still. She also teaches courses in Italian Cinema, which somewhat runs along the family lines.

The other, more famous daughter is Isabella Rossellini, a model, actress, author and more. She’s been in the business for many years and doesn’t look to be slowing down: though her choices of roles seem to be getting ever stranger, as she most recently helped create and starred in Green Porno, a series of short films illustrating the mating habits of a variety of animals (dragonfly, bee, worm, snail, housefly, praying mantis and spider).
